This was a strangely badly edited story and overall it made for some dull reading. The characterizations are inconsistent, the story line is weak, the dialogue is lackluster most of the time, and there is way too much time spent setting up future stories.
My main problems were:
a) the past issues between H/h are never resolved and there is no explanation for why it is suddenly okay to let bygones be bygones (the kids are 6 years old and H/h have lived in the same town all that time: why was it okay to suddenly get back together?) This issue kept occurring to me as I read on and it became clear I wasn't going to get an explanation.
b) there is no resolution or point at which the reason for their break-up is ever really resolved -- the Hero doesn't grovel and we don't know why the heroine has suddenly forgiven him.
c) the next big problem was the one-dimensional "supporting role" characters: the mother and the ex-wife are just a couple of examples. The mother's behavior is totally unbelievable and is never fully explained -- was she crazy or just a witch?
the ex-wife's role seemed to indicate there were going to be some big problems but she is removed form the scene very conveniently, leaving one wondering about why we were subjected to her earlier actions as they led nowhere and didn't move the plot forward.
d) Finally, this book is chock-a-block with unnecessary details and this was hard to take. We kept hearing about the minutiae of daily ablutions and of feeding the dog and other such trivial actions - so much so that you could read the beginning of the page, skip a few paragraphs and pick up the bottom of the page and not miss a thing. Where were the editors?
I can't recommend this book and it is the last that I will try by this author.

McKettricks of Texas Tate Linda Lael Miller 9780373774364 Books Reviews

This was a great book as all of her books are.It along with the other brothers books are exciting to read
Ms Miller continue to write great story with lots of passion and sexual action. I wanted Libby to be more forceful in her desire to get Tate back. She wanted the dream but lack the courage to garb it..I would like to see one of the Mckettrick met up with that stallion to know what happened to him.
Each pair of brother and sister got a book that told of the courtship of the couple. All the main characters were involved in all the books. I would recommend reading this series in sequence.
Liked this book. I have a feeling it is a re-issue, but have to admit that I had not read it previously. Just wanted to warn anyone who might have. The flip phones being used was one clue. Loved the story of Libby and Tate and the adorable twins, and of course, Calvin. Romance, humor and some steam.
I love this story. Have read it so many times I wore out my paperback. The two main characters swing back and forth between today's reality and events that happened years ago. I finally have all 3 stories on my so I can read over and over.
Tate McKettrick had loved Libby Remington very much, but one night changed that and now Tate finds himself taking care of six year old daughters and a ex-wife who really doesn't like him or Texas. Libby has gone on with her life as best as she can. But life has been hard. But now Tate and Libby are starting over and while its hard it may be worth it in the end.
"McKettricks of TexasTate" is the lastest offering from Linda Lael Miller and as you can tell from my title I am sorry that I paid full price for it. Ms. Miller just seem to be writing the same book over and over. All she is doing is changing the characters name and setting. I remember when I would be run out to get her lastest book. Now all I have a regret for spending my money on her books. I have to say that "McKettricks" maybe the last book that I buy from Linda Lael Miller!
This was my first Linda Lael Miller book, believe it or not. Why I never read her, I do not know... I guess I have been more focused on Nora Roberts. I did purchase the book, The McKettricks of Texas Tate for two reasons One being it was a romance and second, the price was $5.76, just in the ballpark of what I wanted to pay.
I am a new user, and some books are too expensive, and I will wait to read them until the price comes down... and the publishers are being too ridiculous with the pricing, but that is another post....
So I decided to try Linda Lael Miller, and I am thrilled I found another author to read, and her writing style reminds me of Nora Roberts. I loved Tate and the love he and Libby have for each other. I actually did not read the book as fast as I normally would, as I wanted to savor it!!
I already purchased for my Garrett and Austin, and then I plan on reading the whole series in order, as Miller has a total of 13 books in the series and I cannot wait. I am now a die hard Linda Leal Miller fan!!
