This book is a sweet, predictable romance that reads quickly. If you like that kind of thing, this book is absolutely for you. The love scenes are well-done, and very sweet.There were a few things I didn't care for, but these are all personal taste. I'm including them only so that others who share those tastes know. I'm not saying the book is bad; it's a fine story. I didn't like it for a few reasons. Obviously, don't read any further if you don't want to be spoiled.
1. The mixed types of weres needs to have an explanation for why fate (and the book all-but states it's fate) put these two together. Again, they're a fine couple, but *why* did her magic or whatever pick him?
2. The hunters that are aware that there are shapeshifters in the woods and hunt them anyway. The does have a tell, and hunters know they're killing what are basically people. I couldn't conceive of why that was allowed to persist. We have people in the real world get upset about puppies getting mistreated; why wouldn't PETA or even the bucks be helping the does?
3. The defenselessness of the does doesn't make sense. Real deer can mess someone up if cornered; even if they prefer to run, they can fight for their lives. Daphne's culture might have sheltered her, but if that was the intention, it didn't come through the text.
4. The emphasis on virginity. I do like that Daphne kinda stops caring as much about this, but as a culture, the purity of virgins is overrated.
5. Any woman after Leo was mean or a skank. I can't stand when a woman is built up by tearing other women down, no matter the reason.
If you don't mind or if you like the above points, then definitely pick up this book! It's a fine read.

Not your usual type of shifter story. I enjoyed it but most issues was not resolved. In a perfect world a lion and a doe would have more of a chance.
The book is exactly what you'd expect. Unlikely shifter pair finding love against the odds. I liked the story well enough, a good quick read.
Three stars and two wet panties.
This is a fantastic story. A lion falls in love with a doe. Just that much information is enough to get me to pick it up. Can you imagine the conflict of falling in love with the being you're meant to prey upon? And vice versa? As far as shifter stories go, this one hits at the top of the list for me. A breath of fresh air. And now, I wish I was a doe.
This series is amazing and I can't wait to read book 2. This is my first book by Kristen Strassel and it most definitely will not be my last. I loved how all the characters were very well developed!! I will be recommending this book to family and friends!!
I enjoyed reading this book, if anything a lion and a dear who would of thought.
If anything it showed that what supposed to be taboo to our way of thinking,
only limits us if anything you have too be able to look and reach beyond for your one true mate.
So thank you to the writer for she definitely did a good job.
This was a first read for me with this author. I enjoyed her writing and can't wait to read the rest of the series. Daphne is a doe shifter and Leo is a lion shifter. When a doe shifts she must leave her home in the autumn to find her mate and not return until spring with her mate. When Daphne finds her mate he is not what she expected. Will their love survive all the obstacles that are there to stop their love from surviving. I recommend this book to answer your questions.
